The Ventura County Chapter of CYC was reinstated in December of 2007. Since then we have had a speak out, where youth from all over the county came together and spoke about issues such as emancipation, permanency, and grouphome issues. In the summer of 2008 we held out first community dinner, many people from the county came together (including Supervisor Bennett) to support this fundraiser and also to hear the recomendations the youth came up with. In January of 2010 the Ventura County Chapter of CYC held a winter luncheon in order to raiser funds for the Day at The Capitol conference. And our latest project was the sensitivity awarness Video where CYC memebers spoke their mind on what its like to live in a group home on camera, shot by Lissa Coffey a sociologist and relationship expert. Ventura County CYC currently has 20 active memebers and 13 Adult supporters. We are looking to create change in the foster care system throughout the county, but also connecting with our CYC peers and creating change throughout the state!
